PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Cynthia brings to this profession 15 yrs of business experience with Carousel Creations, a national wholesale giftware & T-shirt company based on Mercer Island. Cynthia founded Carousel Creations in 1983 & took the company from a small home-based business to a successful enterprise with sales representation in every state & annual sales exceeding $1,000,000. Her experience managing this company encompassed many of the skills that make a successful realtor, including business planning, marketing, negotiating contracts & strong people skills. Cynthia Schoonmaker received her Real Estate License in 1995 and her Associate Broker's License in 2003. In 1998, she was awarded the Windermere Special Achievement Award. She also has recieved the CRS designation (highest designation awarded to sales associates in the residential sales field), GRI (Graduate of Realtor Institute) and the ABR (Accredited Buyer's Representative). She has served as a representative on the Windermere Foundation Board for the Eastside. In 2013, Cynthia received her SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist) designation and became a Senior Transitions Specialist.

PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

Cynthia has lived on Mercer Island since 1975. Her sons have grown up in this community & she has been actively involved with the Mercer Island schools, volunteering in many capacities. She received her Bachelors degree from University of California-Davis in Anthropology & Linguistics where she was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa citation. After receiving her Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from University of Texas in Austin, she taught English as a Second Language at Seattle Central Community College from 1978 to 1983.

NORTHWEST ATTRACTION

Cynthia originally visited the northwest in the 70's when her father, Larry Rose, became the City Manager of Mercer Island (after having served as City Manager in the cities of Carmel, Tiburon and Laguna Beach California). Upon arriving in the northwest, Cynthia met her soon to be husband, while sailing in Lake Washington and has lived happily ever after in the Northwest. In addition, her mother, Billie Rose, was also a successful Real Estate Broker for over 25 years in the Puget Sound Area until her retirement in 2007.
